The Register

Six terms tracked across the federal publication archive: how many documents mention each, how they divide by document type, and what was published most recently. Retrieved 2026-10-13.

Remit

The Register runs in every issue. Its job is unglamorous: to keep a dated count of how much the federal publication record has to say about each of a small number of terms, and to show what it has said most recently.

Four of the six terms describe the compounding channel. One is the category’s defining compound, carried so that the contrast between the two is visible rather than asserted. One is the word peptide itself, carried as a ceiling figure and not as a measure of regulatory attention, because a full-text mention in a proposed rule about laboratory proficiency testing counts exactly the same here as a document about this sector.

Counts are cumulative across the whole archive rather than annual, and they count documents rather than obligations in force. The reasoning, and what the type split does and does not support, is in the issue’s second feature.

Documents per term, by type

Counts are cumulative across the whole published archive and count documents rather than obligations in force. A document matches on a full-text mention, so a passing reference counts the same as a document about the subject. Where the three type counts do not sum to the term total, the register classifies the remainder outside those three types and the shortfall is shown rather than absorbed.
